היה חניך של הפנימייה הצבאית בחיפה.

ב-1961 חזר עם הוריו למעגן, עדיין חניך הפנימייה הצבאית.

ב-1963 התגייס לצה”ל ושירת עד לאחר מלחמת ששת הימים.

עם שחרורו חזר למעגן, השתלב בצוות הרפת ונשא לאישה את ניבה לבית לזר.

עם קריאת הרמטכ”ל משה דיין אל הקצינים לחזור לצבא במלחמת ההתשה, נענה לקריאה.

נפל בקרב עם יחידה מצרית בתעלה, כאשר פקד על כוח טנקים.
